Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal is a way to permanently reduce unwanted hair on the legs, back, bikini area and chest. Laser Hair Removal works by using light energy to target and destroy the cells responsible for hair growth.

Why Laser Hair Removal?

Laser Hair Removal provides a non-invasive approach to permanent reduction and long-term hair removal. Specifically designed to safely eliminate undesired hair from all areas of the body, Laser Hair Removal works on any area where smooth skin is desired. Because the laser treats hair follicles in the growth phase, more than one treatment is necessary to destroy hair follicles that enter the next growth phase.

Is Laser Hair Removal Right For Me?

The ideal Laser Hair Removal candidate is someone experiencing excessive hair growth, who is unhappy with its appearance, and is seeking a long-term, safe solution. Excessive hair growth can be a result of a number of factors, including puberty, pregnancy, menopause, heredity, medication or disease.

Those with normal hair growth who are tired of constantly shaving, waxing or tweezing unwanted hair can benefit from Laser Hair Removal as well. The procedure is generally most effective on patients with dark hair and light skin, although most are able to achieve successful results. It is important to have realistic expectations about Laser Hair Removal in order to be satisfied with the results. Remember, it’s permanent reduction, that may require maintenance treatments.

Laser Hair Removal Procedure

During the procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area being treated to prevent pain and discomfort. The laser is then moved across the targeted area, treating it with intense laser pulses and disabling hair follicles in the active growth state. Patients may experience the slight -sensation of a rubber band snapping the skin during the procedure, but most are able to tolerate the procedure well.

There are several different types of lasers that are used for hair removal, our State Licensed staff will determine which laser is best for treating your particular skin to achieve the most successful results.

Multiple treatments are needed in order to achieve maximum results, as hair grows in cycles, and one treatment is not sufficient to destroy all hair follicles. The majority of patients experience effective results after three to five treatments, spaced four to eight weeks apart. The number of treatments as well as the length depend upon the location of the hair and the patient’s response
to treatment. Those wishing to remove hair in between treatment sessions can shave the treated area if desired, but it is not recommended that any other type of temporary hair removal be used.

Recovery and Results

Following Laser Hair Removal, there may be some redness and swelling in the treated area, which usually goes away on its own within a few days. Patients can return to work and resume other daily activities immediately following treatment. Excessive sun exposure should be avoided for some time following the procedure.

Results of Laser Hair Removal are visible immediately, but hair may continue to grow until the all treatments are complete. Although the results of Laser Hair Removal may not be permanent, patients achieve permanent reduction. This makes hair free maintenance easier, and less burdensome. The results are longer than other hair removal methods. Multiple treatments are the best way to achieve long-term results.
